Windows 10 Activation Question

So I upgraded my Windows 8.1 system to Windows 10 via the free upgrade thing a while ago. Now that July 29th has passed, am I still free to fresh install Windows on my system whenever I want? Is my Windows 10 activation linked to my hardware?

Your activation is tied to your motherboard, so if you keep your motherboard then everything should be fine.

If you still have your Windows 7 key, you can do a fresh install.

 

Just enter your Win 7 in the box when the time comes. It's linked more to your Win 7 key than hardware.

I managed a system upgrade, 2 fresh installs.

 

When I talked to MS customer support, they said just use my Win 7 key(the one that was upgraded) to be able to reinstalled a clean 10.
