Hi.

I have built this gaming rig and was wondering if you guys had any tips for improvements or general comments? :)

I built the base rig a few years ago so I don't have 1151 sockets and a Skylake CPU, but is this necessary?

If I remember correctly I scored about 17-18k on Fire Strike with 3DMark after I recently got the MSI 1080. :)

Could maybe need some more storage after a while, but have only used about 200 gb so far for games. I have a separate media server with 6 tb storage.

So, do you have a parts list of your build?

No of course Skylake isn't necessary for gaming. Your Haswell will do just fine, though it should be noted that since you're using gtx 1080 with it, it's more likely to become a bottleneck in the future than your GPU (kinda obvious).

Yea, I have thought about this. So maybe in the future I will buy an upgrading kit to get it up to 1151, Skylake and so on :)

tbh the build is fine, not best, but great, just find an off brand windows key, the normal cd's/key cost to much,

Depending on your meaning of the "future" you might be looking at an upgrade to Kaby Lake (7th gen intel CPUs), before you run into real performance issues. That's me being optimistic about your rig. ;)

I have tried this many times but can never seem to find out how to.. So now I have the "Activate Windows" watermark down in the right corner..

I really don't have any plans of upgrading just yet, so let's hope my rig will hold up until Kaby Lake and make it ever more "future proof" :D
