Assuming yourre sticking with an ASUS GPU, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126114

Upgrade the 12GB to 16: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233246&cm_re=16_corsiar-_-20-233-246-_-Product

And Because of new technologies and ports coming along, a new mobo is due: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132567&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=ASUS_motherboards-_-13-132-567-_-Product

Hope this helps you get back into the game!

im sticking with the gtx 970 as i just got it. Also what about DDR4? Is it worth the money to upgrade to that? And what about a processor?

No, DDR3 will do you just as good as 4 in casual gaming. Processor? Are you sticking with AMD or are you willing to go Intel?

I wanted to go Intel cause there really hasn't been much action on the AMD side of things and i want all the new features Intel processors have.

I would suggest http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117559&cm_re=i7-_-19-117-559-_-Product

The motherboard I posted earlier, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132567&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=ASUS_motherboards-_-13-132-567-_-Product, is the right socket for this CPU as well.
