Sata express uses a different connector for connecting to SSDs, it won't do anything to your SSD in terms of speed.

This is my list http://pcpartpicker.com/list/VKdPVY
Everything is fine until i put M.2 to this godamn motherboard
It says

  • The motherboard M.2 slot #0 shares bandwidth with a SATA Express port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA Express port is disabled.

Tf?? So this 'great' mobo wont support M.2 or what?
I dont very understand about 'PCIe lane' tho, very stupid of me
Could you good people enlighten me please
Thank you so much

Basically, if you use the M.2 port the Sata Express port(s) will be disabled. Also, you could get a 650W PSU and still run SLI. 550W is fine for a single GPU system.

But why?
My storage plan is:
- 1x M.2 as boot
- 1x 2.5" SSD
- 1x 3.5" HDD as primary

So i can not do that in this Motherboard?
For 750W PSU, i am willing to add GPU, run 2-way SLI and turn path cooler into custom liquid cooling system in the future but i cant afford that right now, so i start with PSU first :)

I once see Z170 build on youtube with this storage's spec:

- 1x M.2 as boot
- 1x 2.5" SSD
- 1x 3.5" HDD as primary

How did he(some youtube, i dont know who) do that?
Any way that i could do that too?

yes it has 2 normal sata ports for an ssd or hdd it only disables the sata express ones that looks like the ones in the picture

Just use the normal SATA ports next to the SATA express port for the other 2 drives.

I edit my posts a lot.

Not enough connectivity (essentially) from the chipset. Why aren't you using the second fastest drive (the SSD) as primary? Also, you'd be able to fit plenty of games on a 128GB SSD. You can use that storage configuration on that motherboard. 2 way SLI with 1080s is easily achievable with a 650W PSU. Ideally from the same lineup (P2 or T2, G2 is fine as well) as the current one.

There, i just need that.. So this system would be okay right?

It will be fine. Just don't use the Sata express ports to connect any of your Sata devices (it's can be found by looking for the 2 Sata ports next to each other and then a smaller port next to those)

Bro bro, sorry sorry for bringing this back again but i got a question
I aint gonna actually doing it but just out of curiosity:
With this goddamn storage's config:
- 1x M.2 as boot
- 1x 2.5" SSD
- 1x 3.5" HDD as primary
can i add 1 more M.2 SSD and RAID 0 it ? since this board has 2 slot of M.2 and Raid 0 ready
What would be the cost?
And if no, why?

Thanks again

I haven't a clue what the cost would be but pcpp would tell you of any compatibility issues.

its same asnwer [http://pcpartpicker.com/list/d243Z8]

  • The motherboard M.2 slot #0 shares bandwidth with a SATA Express port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA Express port is disabled.

but i am afraid that Raid 0 M.2 plan would disable all SATA Express in this Mobo
By the way, how many SATA and SATA Express port in this Mobo?
After i disabled one SATA Express, how many left?

Only one Sata express port. What I'd think would happen is the Sata express protocol cannot be used but the Sata ports that the Sata express connector is made of can be used.

Sorry, googling kinda make me dizzy, thats why im here right
So you mean regular SATA and SATA Express ports can be used but you can not apply SATA Express protocol?
What do you mean by SATA Express protocol?
And when would that happen? with 2x M.2 Raid 0 or 1x M.2 should enough to disable SATA Express protocol?

Sata express ports are made of 2 Sata ports next to each other and a 3rd smaller connector. You can use the individual Sata ports (probably). The Sata express protocol is essentially how the chipset uses the drive plugged in via that connector. 1 M.2 would disable the Sata express port by using its bandwidth. You could do what someone suggest on the previous page and get a different motherboard that'd have no issues, I'm now just educating you on how this works :P

I thought his Mobo is top notch ? Many youtuber said this Mobo is over-enginered
But i cant put this goddamn storage's config (can i?) :
- 2x M.2 with Raid 0 as boot
- 1x 2.5" SSD
- 1x 3.5" HDD as primary
Smh so hard
So what Mobo should i get that capable enough for all of my demand?

This once. It is top notch but a chipset cannot always support everything. It should work on the mobo he said though.

I dont understand your statement :D

And for this Mobo:  http://pcpartpicker.com/product/YMvZxr/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz170xgaming6
I can finally put my goddamn storage plan with no issues whatsoever?
Care to explain why? How could that Mobo can but this top notch can not?

The chipset handles things (iirc) like SATA connectors, PCIe lanes for things like sound cards...etc. Sometimes it essentially runs out of connectivity. Motherboard manufacturers can place chips on the motherboard that allows for more things to be connected. And yes, you should be able to.
