Hello everyone,

I'm a top student in the key middle school of my city, but yeah, I just want to build a new rig that's perfect for my use. I use my computer much frequently than any other guys, though that could always be the main reason for any of my failure.

So I want to do more with a more powerful rig, just like running two browsers for different uses, skype, steam, and maybe word and excel at the same time (seldom with a movie maker), I plan to go with a 6600k and overclock it, but I just notice that there're noticeable differences in overclocking from CPU to CPU, so will this chip work well for me? That would be too expensive if I buy a 6700k.

(Sorry for my poor English, I'm a Chinese. XD)

BTW, I'm a gamer...

Go with the 6600K unless you really need to the extra few seconds load time for rendering and whatnot the 6700K will offer. RAM will help out with loading more programs and running them smoother at this point. Go for at least 16GB of RAM.

6600k is fine for your use. Invest the money in some fast RAM, like 3200Mhz or even 3466Mhz and a decent GPU and you are golden

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X PBO GPU: Asus Strix RTX 3090 OC Mobo: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3600Mhz CL17

CPU Cooler: Corsair H150i Capillex Storage: Samsung 980 Pro and 970 Evo 1TB Samsung 860 EVO 1TB Crucial MX300 525GB WD Black 2TB PSU: Corsair HX1000 Case: Corsair 500D SE RGB 6x LL120

That should be fine since I have 1060 and AsRock Z170 in my list :) I've never overclocked a CPU yet, just wanna try it; or I would go with a Xeon 1231v5 which is almost the same price as a 6600k here.

BTW, single channel or dual channel?

I would say go with the 6600K, you'll get much better power out of it compared to the Xeon which you can't overclock.

I'm not sure if my RAM slot will be affected by my heatsink, so does channel problem still matter a lot in DDR4 generation?

No, not really. It just get´s recommended by the manufacturers
