Hello everybody,

I have made my first build, which look like this:

CPU - Intel i5-6600K

Motherboard - Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 3

GPU - GTX 1060 or AMD RX 480 (waiting for all of the 'out of stock' dust to be settled before making a choice for card+brand version)

HDD - Western Digital Blue 1TB (7200)

SSD - OCZ Trion 150 2,5 Sata III 240GB (boot-drive)

RAM - Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 2400 PC4 8GB

PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA GS 220-GS-0650-V1 650W

Case - Deepcool TESSERACT SW RED SPCC ATX Mid

Note that I don't have a CPU Cooler yet, any advice on that would be appreciated.

I still have doubts on my choice for CPU and motherboard. I'm also thinking that my PSU wattage is a bit to high.

My budget for this PC is around €900.-, less if possible. This current build costs €992,93 (Newegg Netherlands, discounts not included). Included in this price are approximated maximums I want to spend on the GPU (€300.-), the CPU Cooler (€40.-) and a optical drive (€25.-).

As I said previously, this is my first build so there are likely some less well choosen part in my build, so any tips and/or advice are really appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Jesse

You should get the 550W version of that PSU

Also if it possible you can downgrade to an i5 6500 + B150 motherboard to save some money by sacrificing the ability to oc

only real bad thing is the case and psu... get a lower wattage psu and save some money, get a better case with better airflow, looks, and cable mgmt

CAse in my opinion is one of the best budget cases i've ever seen the S340 is the case I was using for my 6700k and my 2 Rx 480s before moving it to a PC 07s

the s340 is the best budget case or the tesserect? i think its the s340. i might be getting one and modding it with tempered glass on the front and left side, but that is if no other cases come out with good tempered glass panels

Thanks everybody for the advice.

@GarnetDevil @Gokufighther I already had a feeling the 650 W PSU was a bit to high, so thanks for helping me with that.

@Gokufighther So the s340 is the way to go then? It seems like a good case as far as I can see.

I do still have a bit of a doubt about my choice for Cpu+motherboard. @Gokufighther Why is the motherboard that you put into your list better suited than the one I picked? (Just curious).

And about the OC vs non OC: I would probably not OC at the start but I sort of use it as an option when I need it. In other words, when a game asks for it and I need the extra performance. Now this will ofcourse happen much more once the Cpu and the Gpu are getting older.

Now I am not sure what would be the smartest thing to do: To get the current build and OC, or to get a non-OC combination and upgrade these parts a few years down the line.

the board that i linked you is a bit more color neutral and has "ultra m.2" i beilieve. not to mention i love asrock's build quality over gigabyte and most people receiving their boards tend to get really good, stable overclocks.

personally i would go for the overclocking cpu so you can take advantage of the board and get some free performance out of the chip, that will delay the inevitable cpu upgrade and it will also help with any bottlenecks if you decide to upgrade the gpu in the future.

if you think that out of the games you are going to play, you dont need the extra bit of performance and you dont feel like overlclocking, get the i5 6500/6600 and run with a h170 board like the asus h170 pro gamer, or you can keep the z170 board for if you feel like getting a 6700k or a kaby lake processor in the future. it is up to you, though i would go for the 6600k right now since at least to me, the small premium seems worth it
