I have a gaming computer with a 980, i5 6600k, asus z170 motherboard, the whole shubang. this computer is connect via eithernet cable running outside of the house to what i assume is a Comcast arris router/modem bundle.

Since recently everytime I turn on my computer the eithernet stops working. it seems like the modem/router is not providing for that specific eithernet port. I can temporarily solve this buy, after turning on the computer, going and unplugging and plugging back in the eithernet cable. sometimes having to switch ports...

Is this a problem with my computer (i have had weird eithernet problems in the past) Or is this a problem with the always hated comcast and there terrible router/modem boundle thing?

Has it happened with other computers as well? If so then the common denominator is the router.

How does it "stop working"?

Do you get the red "unplugged" cross or the yellow "oh no something's wrong" triangle?

If it's the latter, do you get an IP address from the router?

oops i forgot to mention how it stops working. i get the Ethernet yellow triangle but it flashes in between that and nothing detected at all.

This is iust a guess, but based on my professional troubleshooting experience I'd say your ethernet cable has developed a problem, likely one of the pins in the connector is making an intermittent connection. If it were me, I'd reterminate the end of that ethernet cable, just to be safe, but you don't need to go to that extreme yet

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:
