Gpu usage spikes

I have a gtx 970 and an i5 4460 in games I am getting gpu usage spikes please help.

cpu temp is 30  - 50 full load never goes over

What are you doing when you see this? Looks like your gaming. What game are you playing? Are you going through transitional scenes, cut scenes?

I am playing black ops 3 and it is in gun fights or when Im jumping around outside

Are you getting stuttering or noticing anything in-game? have you tried enabling V-sync see if that helps?

Also, how is your CPU usage? If your CPU is maxed out at 100% utilization when that is happening, then that is creating a bottleneck because it can not feed the information to the GPU fast enough.

75 to 100 yes most the time maxed

Are you graphing your CPU usage in Afterburner? If so, compare the 100% times to the drops. If you are seeing the drops at the same time as the 100% utilization, then that is your issue.

yes the drops happen in conjunction with the usage spikes

Then your CPU is bottlenecking your GPU.

What kind of monitor do you play on? What its max resolution and refresh rate? You should set your refresh rate to 60hz for in-game as even my old 4690k with my 1070 was bottlenecking it at 144hz.

If your going to keep on the same platform, I would recommend a i7 4790, unsure if you have a Z series board. if you have a Z series, then get the 4790k.

Then go with the 4790k, even if you dont Overclock, it would give you the option to in the future.
