So i was going to get a 1070 which I would have to save up a couple paychecks for, but I was wondering could I get a 1060 instead because i think its better than my R9 290 Windforce... I would use it for 1080p gaming I would have 2 monitors but as for one of them would only be ran on integrated graphics because it would be used for the chat window and OBS when I'm streaming on twitch. Thanks for the Help :)

1060=small upgrade since it's the same performance as a 980 or 390x/290x. Go for the 980ti or 1070.

I agree. 1060 will be mostly just a sidestep and not a real substantial upgrade. Really the major upgrades you would be getting with a 1060 is better thermals and noise and supported technologies. I would keep saving up to get a substantial leap in performance, especially since I don't think you want to have to upgrade GPUs soon after getting your new one.

Laptop - Lenovo Y50   Keyboard - Corsair K95 RGB Cherry MX Brown   Mouse - Logitech G502 Proteus Core   Mousepad - Razer Firefly

Oh okay I have another question I have heard in some places on this forum that the I5 can bottleneck the 1070 is that true?

Bottleneck became a new thing over the internet lately.

To put it short... in some CPU intensive scenarios (like some densely populated GTA5 city areas) this might occur and wont fully utilize 1070s performance but its still gonna be a HUGE difference and 1070 will wipe the floor with 1060 or 290(X) any day of a week.

What i5 do you have?

If that helps, I have an i5 4570 and I tested both GTX 1060 and 1070 after that. Differences are night and day. You have slightly weaker CPU so bottlenecking might occur as I said but it will definitelly boost your performance regardless of that + you can upgrade your PC in future and keep the 1070.

Depends on the definition of bottleneck, which varies wildly from person to person.

Overall, though, forget about this bottleneck BS. Question: what's the best upgrade you can do with your money? Answer: a gtx 1070. So just go, get the card and plug it in, don't worry about the CPU bottlenecking it. If you had sprouting cash to substitute your CPU as well, then maybe it would be worth to discuss the matter.

But that's not the case, so get your GPU upgrade and don't think about it.
