So Basically, I want a camera for taking good quality photo and video when I'm on holiday and I also want to start vlogging for YouTube rather than using my phone. But as I'm a student I don't have all to much money so between $130- $230, I'm from Great Britain so I had to convert. There are certain features I would like available. So 1080p video recording, don't need 4K nor 60fps, external microphone as I know a camera this cheap most likely won't have that great of a built in mic and also not a requirement but a bonus, a flip screen so I can see myself when recording my face. Throw any and all suggestions at me as I'll consider each one.

I think a gopro or a yi camera would be good.

What kind of phone do you have

This external mic works with an iPhone or Android.

You can go for a camcorder that also takes still images.  Internal mics of camcorders tend to be better than ones in DSLRs.

And here are all the cameras with a max cost of $230.

Or you can perhaps get a nicer model in the second hand market.

Good question.  On the second hand market it is possible to find something that may originally cost above $250 and perhaps does a nicer job than any brand new camera under.

But in the brand new market, tough to say.  If you go with a camcorder it will have slightly nicer mics and be able to take decent stills but of course not as well as a photo camera.  If you go with a photo camera, while it may be able to record video, there is the issue of also having to budget an external sound recording tool if you don't have one already, though compact cameras having fewer moving parts might be able to capture decent audio with internal mics.  Of course it will have to be cleaned up and enhanced in post a bit, and during filming the sound source should not be too far away.

I've had someone use the tiny internal mic of my FS7 during an interview once because he didn't realize that the XLR cable on the handheld mic had an On/Off switch and I forgot to tell him when I lent him the camera.  With a bit of audio editing in post it turned out OK.

I've also done some fun video stuff with a Canon S95.

No, you dont have to convert, we should be looking for products in £, always give your budget in your native currency (can give an example conversion to help people) but no point people liking US products or US prices from US stores etc

Just saying :)

really the only thing in that budget to have those features will be a small camcorder as most budget cameras do not have articulating screens

its a pretty small budget to get all of those features in

They are good cameras for their price.  Will take nice pictures and likely do decent video.  The main issue for video will always be audio, with the internal mics if they come with any.

I have seen people recommending the a5000 in youtube or otherwise, I don't own this myself so a second opinion is always welcome. (I assumed 250 usd is about 200GBP it converts to 193 GBP from Google.)

Sony a5000: https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SSLRSONA50001650B#.V6pQTLh96Uk

as noted above, the mic might be an issue, it has a multiinterface port...

It might be worth noting the 60D represents (in my opinion) a good value right now, I am not sure of its video capabilities, I read mixed reviews while looking at it now, but it is outside you budget, still it might be worth looking at it. It might be worth noting that its replacement, the 70D is praised by many vloggers I've watched.
