How does my plan look?

So, I finally found a full time job, after getting out of the military a few years ago, and now have steady income to put toward a gaming build. I plan on re-using my GTX 750 that I currently have, but for the most part, this is going to be a complete system from scratch. I tried to keep it under $800 so I can get it sooner, but I wanted it to be as good I could. I'm also taking suggestions for any improvements that anyone has.

The high-end i5 is overkill for the GTX 750, but if you plan on upgrading to a 1060 or something down the line then that build looks great!

Yeah. I only plan on keeping for 750 for a few months until I can get some stuff figured out, then I'll be getting an upgrade from there.

That's a Toughpower Gold PSU?

It's on Tier 4 but if you can get it for that cheap (I think it is), it should be fine.

You can cut the psu down to a 550W. The H170 board only supports CF so unless you plan on running 2 x AMD GPU's then 750W is overkill. Something like the EVGA G2/GS or Corsair RMx would be good.

Okay. I'll check it out. I only went with that one because I was unsure. Thank you.  I'm unsure on what video cards are decent for Crossfire support. I really only know anything about Nvidia cards. Any suggestions for when I upgrade if I do want to CF?

It's 90% of the time better overall to just buy a more powerful card and sell the old one than it is to deal with SLI or CF. There have been a few edge cases (on the Nvidia side for example at the launch of the 900 series a lot of people bought 2x 970s instead of a 980 and for $100 more got better performance), but even so CF and SLI definitely have their issues.

And I forgot about the RX 480! Seems like a great card for the price.

Also, I agree about upgrading the tier of a power supply. 650w max, look at the EVGA Supernova series or as someone mentioned Corsair RM series. Make sure it's modular unit, you'll thank me later when it comes time to do cable management- there's a lot of wires in a computer, so don't add any unnecessary stuff.

Okay, So I changed out the power supply for this one, and as far as CF/SLI, if I just do a single card, and stay with Nvidia, would that supply work for something up to a 1060 or should I just keep the other one for when I go to actually upgrade?

A 650W power supply will be more than enough for a 1060 (or even a 1070 or 1080). An RX 480 will run on the same supply as well- but I'm not sure about crossfire (but again, CF/SLI shouldn't be your goal/first option unless you absolutely need more power than a single card can provide).
