GTX 1060 build

Hi guys,

First timer here, and i'm interested in making a PC build for myself and building it. Now i've made a build here and want to see if there are any problems with it or if you guys would have any recommendations. PCPartPicker says there are no compatibility issues but i'd like a second opinion from you guys

Here's the build:

Intel Core i5 4690K / 3.5 Ghz - CPU

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo - CPU Cooler

Gainward GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Phoenix - GPU

WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB HDD - Hard Drive

Kingston HyperX FURY Black Series 2x4 DDR3 1866MHz - Ram

Gigabyte G1.Sniper B6 - Motherboard

BitFenix Nova - Case

Corsair VS650 - PSU

I know you guys would put an SSD in here, but I really don't need one and I don't see why i'd have to spend such an amount just for that slight increase in loading/booting time.

Also, i was thinking i'd do some light overclocking on the CPU but i'm not sure if that's possible with that cooler.

SSD makes your Windows run much smoother, this is from my point of view who, up until now, has been installing Windows on HDD, plus they are dirt cheap now

Get the i5 6600K, Z170 board and DDR4 ram, there's little to no difference of price point between them and Z97

And you might want to consider that PSU, that thing killed my old GTX 760 before

I agree. but Z170 boards are really expensive...

Couple things:

Definitely want to do i5-6600K

 

Definitely want an SSD

 

You can go RX 480 if you need budget space

Those boards are 144$ where I live, and i can barely find them...

If your budget can't fit an SSD you might want to go i5-6500 instead of 6600K, and correspondingly get a cheaper H170 mobo

I'm going with the board and PSU you linked me, but what's actually wrong with the board in my original build?

The original motherboard doesn't support Skylake CPUs so I gave you a Skylake one, you might as well since they're priced similarly

 

The VS PSU is just a very cheap and unreliable model, it's been dincontinued since but some are still in the market.

Well they're not priced similarly, the motherboard in my original build is 65 euros and that board is 114 haha.

So it doesn't support Skylake? Does that mean it's completely incompatible?

Yeah Haswell boards can't fit skylake CPU

 

The 65 euro board can't overclock so no point getting it with an OC CPU
