$500 Budget Build

Macks

Hey all! So my friend was looking to build a gaming computer for around $500 and he wanted me to help. I have been playing around on PCpartpicker.com and I've come up with 2 possible builds. A Micro ATX and an ATX build. I'd love to get your guy's input on what you think of these builds. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Here is my ATX build: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/JNKrVY and here is my Micro ATX build : http://pcpartpicker.com/user/NotMacks/saved/Lpdj4D.

This is just my opinion. Because I love my setup so much.

You get a lot of bang for your buck with what I started with. AMD FX 6300 and a 970 gaming motherboard (about 180-190 bucks) Overclock ability is high and extremely easy to do with MSI Command center.

From there you have a lot of wiggle room.

The price pickera you have look nice tho.

If you want, you can give your friend a 480GB SSD build, alongside USB 3.1 and an overclockable Athlon X4. This is what I suggest.

If you're going air cooled. I recommend the Cryorig H7. It's cheap, quiet, cools really well and looks awesome.

Also has unlimited RAM compatibility.(it will never interfier with even high profile RAM)

The current processor comes with a cpu cooler, so he shouldn't need another one.

Is it a stock cooler? Because they are usually horrible...

i3 has better single threaded performance than AMD's top line CPUs :D

If he wants to overclock get the H170 Hyper instead

I'd say your okay going with a Z170 board and an I3, then you have and easy upgrade path for GPU and CPU. What I would recommend is getting a 2x4GB kit of Ram.

it is, but since the cpu isn't unlocked he won't be needing the extra cooling power.

How is getting 2x4GB ram better than getting 1x8GB? Does it improve the efficiency?
