As above. And performance won't be "affected" per say, Sata 2 is 3GBps, this is faster than a single hard drive will be anyways. You will not notice any difference.

Yes, they will work.

 

SATA is backwards and forwards compatible, which means you can plug SATA 2 in SATA 3, and also SATA 3 in SATA 2.

The only difference might be that speed of the device is limited in some cases.
