Hey,

So my R9 270 pretty much bricked two weeks ago and I've been waiting for the XFX aftermarket RX 480. The 8GB model is up for preorder on OCUK, so I suspect it (and hopefully a 4GB model) will come to Canadian (after American) stores soon. Presently, I am using a monitor with a VGA connection, and while I understand I am in need of an upgrade in that regard, I decided I would push for a new GPU first since the monitor still works well. Obviously there is no VGA connection on any of the RX 480's, but should I expect to lose out on any performance by using a Displayport to VGA adapter while playing games?

No. DVI I supports analog connections, so the conversion is a simple one. The gpu almost certainly includes an adapter.

What about DVI D?

DVI d won't work, but the Rx 480 has dvi I ports and an adapter.

Edit- just remembered the rx 480 doesn't have dvi Ports, but there is display ports to vga which will work fine.
