It's not the best looking by any means, but it will work. If you find your CPU getting hot, you might want to look into getting a larger cooler. To install the new GPU, you'll need to take the pre-installed one out.

Hello guy's

I recently got a pre-built pc as a gift but it wasn't powerful to run games as i wanted but it had a good CPU (intel core i7 4790 3.6ghz)

so i went to amazon looked up some good parts to play games in mid setting 1080p

but i'm a noob when it come's to compatibility

i don't want to order parts that are not compatible with each other

and will the CPU work and fit into the motherboard ?

so here is the list of things i want to bay

ـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

PSU : EVGA 500 W1 80+
(https://amzn.com/B00H33SFJU)

RAM : Corsair Vengeance Red 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory
(https://amzn.com/B008E3M4QS)

GPU : ASUS GeForce GTX 750Ti GDDR5 2GB Graphics Card GTX750TI-OC-2GD5
(https://amzn.com/B00IB9P1KG)

MOTHER BOARD : ASRock ATX DDR3 1333 LGA 1150 Motherboards FATAL1TY H97 PERFORMANCE
(https://amzn.com/B00K6JKU7S)

CPU : Intel core i7 4790 3.6ghz ( i already have it from the pre-built pc )

Hard drive : ( i already have it from the pre-built pc )

ـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

and the reason why i ordered such an expensive motherboard because i live in Saudi Arabia , so amazon doesn't ship any other motherboard .

Note : the pre-built pc is dell optiplex 9020 mt .

and that's it

What's wrong with the default RAM and motherboard? You could save some extra money by not getting those and get an RX480 instead of a 750ti (Or if you don't have that much a 460 or 470)

I know but i live where amazon doesn't ship any other motherboard so i have limited options

that was all i could get but did i choose them right ?

not in the price but the compatibility and will the CPU fit into the chosen motherboard ?

What you've chosen should fit, but what I'm saying is use the motherboard and RAM from the pre-built Dell computer and use the money you saved to buy something that actually improves your performance.

Everything is standard so I can't see any problems. You can just keep the CPU, motherboard, RAM, Hard/solid state drives, and maybe the case of the Dell computer and just add a new PSU and GPU. That should work and you'll have some extra cash to spend on the GPU which is where the power is for games.

Oh and I found this on the Dell site:

Minitower (MT)
Dimensions (H x W x D) Inches/(cm) :
 14.2 x 6.9 x 16.4 /(36.0 x 17.5 x 41.7)
Min. Weight (lbs/kg) : 20.68 / 9.4
Number of Bays : 2 internal 3.5”
2 external 5.25”
Expansion Slots : 1 full height PCIe x16   -(This means you can install a GPU)
1 full height PCIe x16 (wired x 4)
1 full height PCIe x1
1 full height PCI
Power Supply2 Unit (PSU) : Standard 290W PSU Active PFC or optional 290W up to 90% Efficient PSU (80 PLUS Gold); ENERGY STAR 5.2 compliant, Active PFC  -(This probably needs to be replaced because it's only built for the lower power of the original Dell machine)

Is this the one you have?

That's why pcpartpicker.com is there to help. It checks for compatibility.

Anyhow on the build:

1- You are pairing a very powerful CPU with a very weak GPU, in games the GPU should be the priority. Get a i5 and a RX 480/1060.

2-That power supply is not great, get something better here:

3- You really don't needs 16 GBs of RAM right now, get 8GB upgrade later.

It's not the best looking by any means, but it will work. If you find your CPU getting hot, you might want to look into getting a larger cooler. To install the new GPU, you'll need to take the pre-installed one out.

Okay then, here is what a suggest.

1-Upgrade the power supply

2-Get a new graphic card.

There is no need to get a new motherboard (it has X16 PCI E for the graphic card) and there is no need to upgrade the RAM (8GB is enough nowadays). Hopefully the power supply is replaceable.
