Hi, I'm thinking of saving up for a new laptop and I have found two that I like, however I cannot decide which one is the better purchase.

Option 1 is ASUS GL552VW-DM201T which also comes with a mouse, headset and bag. http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/GL552VW-DM201T-16GB-ASUS-GL552VW-DM201T_1931874.html

Option 2 is ASUS G751JT-T7250H. http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/G751JT-T7250H-ASUS-G751JT-T7250H_1811138.html

I am also open to any suggestions that anyone may have. My budget is £900 or less.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

I would go with the second one.

I would go with option 2 because you get better hardware like the 970m 3gb not 960m 2gb.  A lot of the money on option 1 is being spent on the mouse, headset and backpack.

How about this? Cheaper, more power. I assume you live in the UK.

Thank you for looking but I'm not sure about this one because I just looked at reviews of the company and it seems like a lot of people have a bad time with them, I don't suppose you have any experience with them?

I'm actually quite surprised. I've had 1 purchase with them. Went swimmingly. Most people I know have very positive experiences with them. Unfortunately I'm not that familiar with other retailers in the UK market so I wouldn't know to recommend anything else.

Ah that's quite good to hear then, have you had your laptop/PC from them long or had any problems with it?

It was for a family member. Wanted to game. Told him to get something from their. Never had a problem with it. I think it depends what you get there. The one I linked you is a Clevo rebrand P640RE, and its made by rebranded by alot of manufacturers. That model shouldn't have a problem at all. Some of the lower end models I'm not too sure about, but the higher end ones are mostly Clevo rebrands and those should be totally fine.

I'd be very careful when buying a 14' laptop with a 970M. Those chips produce a LOT of heat and the 14' laptops with them tend to have throttling issues due to that heat. I'd also avoid the GL552 in the OP because of the piss poor plastic top lid as that one folds like cardboard and can damage the LCD.

The Clevo P640RE works fine. It'll run comfortably around 80 85 under furmark and a little undervolting and repasting with ICD will bring it to around 75.

Haven't tried that one but I've seen a lot of people get burned in the past with 14' laptops that turn out to be ovens.

Interesting. I'm waiting for Clevo to put a 1060 (lower tdp, lower clock version) into this thing. Pascal is so damn hot.

I remember a few Gigabyte laptops (not sure if 14') but those were, well, let's just say a 2-in-1 Oven :D
