The 6500 might bottleneck the 1070 a bit

Why not a K series processor? Honestly instead of SLI plans, I would of just got 6700k and a good AIO 1070, like an EVGA Hybrid or something. You'd have a nice silent system and a faster one at that.

Just out of curiosity how long do you think skylake will be the newest gen processor?

Probably at least a year, I expect new CPUs to launch early 2017. Even then though, resale value will be great plus judging by Intel's latest efforts with Broadwell-E it won't be much of an upgrade. (see 4790k vs 6700k). It will however still be on the z170 socket so you can easily sell your CPU and upgrade when the time comes. But for now, 6700k is what I would go for.

When are you expecting to SLI? If it's like next month, might as well wait a month and get a 1080 instead, you won't have to deal with many issues that way. I personally only SLI if I have the top card, otherwise I feel like I am not making out the most of my money compared to the negatives that come with SLI.

Hope this helps

two years or so. but why even care if there isnt that much of a benefit (you are still fine running 2nd Gen if OCd unless you really need the newer features)

Do power supplies ever go "outdated" / how often should you buy a new power supply??

I had a Corsair AX1200i for my first build, it was totally overkill for 1 GPU but I had it for 4 years and haven't had a single problem. It came with like 10 year warranty I think as well, or something close to that.

So in short, not really. All they do is provide power so as long as you have a good unit it shouldn't cause you any problems in the next 4-5 years at least.

For your kind of system 1000W is fine if not a bit overkill but it's always nice to have extra hearoom. That Corsair unit you have chosen is fine :)
