Hey guys,

After one of my monitors broke I was left with a single LG 23.8" ISP 1080p screen,  and since I've got the spare cash in now I'd like an upgrade.

Now thats where I'm stuck. I've looked into so many different things and I can't work out what I want.

What it really comes down to is having 2 23/24" monitors, or a single larger one.

If its 2 smaller, I assume it would be 2 1080p screens again, or a larger would be either 1440p/4k.

My budget is about £150 a monitor, or £300ish for a larger one.

I'm leaning on the side of a decent larger  one, that down the line I can partner with some cheaper monitors in portrait for programming on etc.

Any recommendations, or even just advice on picking either way?

Cheers!

The cheapest 27" 1440p IPS monitor on pcpp.uk is already £314

Unless you get a 25" panel

4K?

True! I can go to about £400 for a single monitor, so that does open up a few options in the 1440p and the 4k side of things.

I think of the two I'd prefer 4k, seems more "futureproof" (even If I don't like that word).

I doubt you'll enjoy 4K gaming with just an R9 290.

A worthwhile 4K display is well over £400 anyway.

But I believe I've found the sweet spot for you.

1440p IPS + 144Hz + Freesync

Yeah thats fair, though I am doing an upgrade later in the year to a 1070/1080 or new AMD equiv.

That 1440p monitor does have it all though....

Thanks for the help!
