an i3 isnt a very pleasing pick for most games anymore, while the RX480 will most likely notice the cpu chugging on some games, i'd recommend against getting a lower spec GPU at this point in time because the little money saved wouldnt account for the massive loss in performance even compared to a necked RX480.

 

look at it this way: even if the RX480 chugs in some games, it'll still be faster than a GPU that wouldnt be cpu-necked in the same case ;)
