Budget: Around $500 (a little more or less is fine)

Location: US

Aim: I am going to be using this as my main PC, I do a lot of gaming and school work with what I used to have.

Monitors: I have a 1920x1080 monitor that I plan to use, no extras.

Peripherals: I have everything I need.

Why are you upgrading?: Well, my Alienware 17 R1 has bitten the dust after 2 years, and Dell kind of sucks. I need a decent desktop anyways, I think the added performance boost would be totally awesome, also with something like this I wouldn't need to carry around the nearly 10lb laptop for school, I could just get a cheap one if I needed it, but that's beside the point.

Give me some builds and suggestions below! PCpartpicker links would be awesome! But if you have something else that is good too!

Keep in mind:

I am going to be reusing my 1tb HDD for this as well as my 120gb SSD . I think I may also have an M.2 SSD but I'm not sure on that one.

Edit: I was thinking a good leniency of about $100 extra for GPU if I can get some suggestions there too.

Get that PC or something similar. then throw whatever you can afford into the best GPU you can get. (you should be able to afford a 480 or 1060 around that budget). You could also get an i5 6400 or 6500. but in order to pair that with a strong GPU you may have to stretch to 600-650
