So I recently got a new PC to use with this nice 1440p monitor that I had recently got from my uncle that he used to work with when he came over. So being the type to play CS:GO I overclocked my monitor to 85hz successfully when I was on Intel HD 530 integrated graphics, waiting for the GTX 1060. So now when I get the GTX 1060, overclocking this monitor to 85hz with the Nvidia Control Panel works and then immediately fails. So after this fail I try any setting between 85 and 61hz but nothing works, the overclock works for 4 seconds then immediately restarts the display driver back to 60hz. I tried using CRU but the same thing happened again, the driver restarts twice and the overclock fails. What could I do to fix this? I have tried lower resolutions too but that also didn't work.

If you are wondering my monitor is the acer g257hu.

My i5 6500 is bad and can't even maintain 4.5ghz, and 4.4ghz causes it to slowly become unstable over weeks with a vcore of 1.395. FML

Get an actual 120/144 hz display?

display overclocking isnt really supported like cpu / gpu overclocking

My old one is VGA and that is what I used with my laptop and if you expect me to not use a 1440p monitor and a 4:3 1280x1024 monitor that I need an adapter for then gg

What happens if you change back to the integrated GPU?

Can you still get it to 85Hz now?

Yes I can with the integrated graphics but that was before I got a custom bios to overclock my non k CPU.

Hey, I am looking for a decent gaming monitor, and I found that one, and it is very cheap for a 27" 1440p ips panel. Is it good? Have you experienced any tearing or ghosting? I own a gtx 1070 and im planning on playing some of the newer games in ultra settings, so I guess the 60Hz wont be much of a problem. Do you recommend that monitor?
