This could be the wrong section for this (Let me know and I will take it down if so), but does anyone have any tips for creating textures for unity 3d? I have a rough house that I made in sketchup (because I cannot learn how to use blender for the life of me, as much as I want to. I know its much more detailed.) and wish to texture it. But there is weird scaling problems if I use default sketchup textures and blahblahblah. Thanks in advance.

Unity is amazing. Its da best. I've also heard that Unreal Engine is pretty good too but have yet to try it.

Blender is (generally) for 3d models. You certainly can use it to apply textures and it can create textures from basic colors but generally, when doing textures you'd create them in another tool and then apply them to your model (which you then import into unity).

As far as an answer to your question, I recall I used Paint.net to create basic (and I mean basic) textures. I often also found more complex textures in the unity store.

Also explore bumpmapping a bit but that was more for landscape (at least that is how I was using it. Anyway, I'm not an artist. I accept this and tried to use premade (creative commons type) textures or images. (Sometimes a basic image can be turned in to a textures -- again, depends on purpose.
