I have recently enabled CPU Level Up to 4.1 GHz and set manual voltage to 1.2v. Before I had it stock at 3.8 because I had issues with a consistant overclock in the past on this same rig, so I decided to at least midly up the ante a bit.

Speedstep is enabled and so is hyperthreading.

The problem is that in windows, whether I look at CPU-Z or realtemp, the clock rate stays at 4.1 GHz no matter what. I haven't updated the bios in quite a while (years) but I don't think that would have anything to say about it.

What are your thoughts on this?

Is high performance in windows power options on?

It seems it is.

And upon further inspection the minimal processorspeed was set at 100%. It's now at 5%.

Seems like I done goofed there, I didn't think that windows it self could control the speed with user input.

Thanks for your help. Derp :$

  • I currently only have this one browser tab open on my entire system, and the speed is fluctuating between 3.8 and 4.0 GHz. (5-6% load)
  • Just as I finished typing that ^ it started fluctuating between 3.2 and 3.5 GHz instead (3-4% load)
  • It may just be me though, at least it's staying cooler than before.
