[Rant] Oneplus - Professional r us!

I don't usually post to the forums (more like never) but I felt that this was the best place to word my disappointment with Oneplus. Due to the absolutely positive review that Linus gave the OP3, I thought I'd have a go and buy this phone for my mom's birthday. She hates slow phones but breaks them to often to buy any other flagship.

 

Her birthday was on July, 4th. The phone was estimated to arrive on time (around that date or early the week after it). It's been dozens of chats, emails and even a Paypal claim and I have not seen neither the phone nor my money.

 

These people have, by a great length the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The live chat is plagued with operators with names like they generated their names with a random string generator or just standard US names while they do not manage to word proper English and they're as unhelpful as it's possible. It feels like you're talking to some scammers who are trying to sell you tech support for the event viewer errors.

 

Apparently, due to some technical issue ( I imagine string truncation, since it is rather long) our address was not accepted by DHL (the shipping company) who notified OP about their inability to find the address on the parcel. The phone was held by them for 10 business days before it was send back. Meanwhile, I was told by OP that I should be patient and that delays were not uncommon.

 

Since the 18th, the package tracking says that the phone has been returned to the sender. I asked for them to ship a second unit towards us, this time making sure the address was alright. They said they couldn't do that, because their automated system would not allow for that.

 

I also requested for them to escalate the ticket to a supervisor and have them issue me a quick refund and a voucher for express handling (because otherwise they have you wait for 5 business days for no fucking reason) nobody has ever done this yet.

 

Earlier today I was fed up of their excuses and filed a Paypal claim. Which prompted the tech support employee to try to extort me to withdraw that claim against them if I wanted to have my refund processed. This is the current status of it.

 

Thanks for your attention. And I'd be grateful for suggestions or help.

Inb4, just a whinny ass b***h. I set 400€ aside for a phone based on the recommendation on LTT. I put a lot of faith in that recommendation and OP has been a huge let down. I've bought products they recommended before and had great experiences with them, but sadly this one wasn't. And I hope that they mean it when Linus says that he picks sponsors and recommends things he would actually endorse.

Oh boy, I've been toying around with ordering a OP3 soon. This makes me nervous.

I have heard other accounts of this, but it is a bit rare. I got mine within 5 days and that was directly from china!
