Does enabling device encryption slow down phone? Android 6.0.1

Just bought a Moto X Play recently and the phone is relatively new so I was thinking about whether or not i should enable device encryption

 

Does anyone here have storage encryption enabled?
Notice any change in performance? What about your microSD card storage?

It will slow down your device, just by a bit. Nothing noticeable, unless you got eagle eyes and could spot things frame by frame. You could always do benchmark of before and after to see how slow exactly. If it's not to your liking, you could revert back.
