Chrome not loading youtube thumbnails?

This problem started recently, and at first I though it was my internet, since results on speedtest.net were lower than general. I narrowed it down to chrome after opening up Edge and seeing that it loaded everything fine.

Not all thumbnails are borked, and anything other than youtube works fine, but 90% of my internet use if youtube so thats an issue. Is there a way of fixing this without loosing all of chrome's saved passwords and autofill features?

clear everything but auto and passwords?

 

control + h clear browser data and untick what you dont want to remove

it looks like you got YouTube dark theme installed. completly remove it, that was the issue at mine
