I've been searching for hours but as a first-time-builder I don't know what to look for in a power supply;

and thus I've turned to linustechtips.com for help.

the power draining components are:

an i7 6700K, a GTX 1070, a 7.2k RPM HDD and a total of 4 120mm fans one for the CPU cooler and 3 for the case.

and I'll most likely be overclocking.

and as one of the pinned posts said I should tell you;

country: Sweden.

thanks in advance.

There are many things to look for in a power supply. Voltage regulation, ripple suppression, component selection (what sort of fans do they use? what capacitors?), build quality, warranty etc.

To simplify it, I'll just suggest a few: EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2, Corsair RM550x, Corsair RM650i, Seasonic G-series.

'Fanboyism is stupid' - someone on this forum.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

Spoiler

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K - 4.5 GHz | Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO | RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 | SSD: Samsung 850 EVO - 500GB | GPU: MSI GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6GB | PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G2 | Case: NZXT Phantom 530 | Cooling: CRYORIG R1 Ultimate | Monitor: ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q | Peripherals: Corsair Vengeance K70 and Razer DeathAdder

Välkommen till forumet!

Like the people above mentioned, EVGA G2/GS or Corsair. If I were you I'd go for 650-750w for a bit of extra space just in case.

I do however think that 550w is enough.

I can personally vouch for the EVGA G2 series PSU's, using the 850w version of it for my build!

Those components will likely never breach 300W under load. A 550W Corsair RMx or EVGA G2/GS would work fine.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
