If you don't plan to overclock then just get the regular 6700, a cheaper motherboard and an air cooler otherwise you're wasting money.

Main PC CPU: 7700K, MOBO: Asus Strix, GPU: Aorus Extreme 3080, PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 750, RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB Storage: 970 Evo 1tb

You may want to think about the I/O on the motherboard. Will you need USB Type-C or some Thunderbolt 3 ports? If so, maybe there's a board with more of that.

CPU: i7 4770K  |  Corsair H80i  |  ASUS Z87-Pro  |  8GB Corsair 1866Mhz  |  GPU: MSI Gaming X RX 480 8GB  |  Corsair HX  750

You might be right, the reason for the overdimention is for long lasting rig, like the one ive been running the past 9 years. didnt overclock until like 2 years ago when it started to feel a bit slow.

Exactly, im currently a frequent user of I/O Hubs for acessability. And at my current state i don't use any of those ports, I like Asus motherboards as mine has lasted pretty long in my opinion, and this one had a 5 year warrenty and was promoted for its long lasting use.

I don't think you'll need to overbuild quite that much. Your old system was a pure dual-core, no hyper-threading. Content creation can benefit from more cores/threads. That's something the i7 will have regardless. And Sabertooth mobo's are just over-the-top.

My initial tought was the i5 6600K and a Asus Z170 - A ( or pro ) .... but after reading endless comments about the Asus motherboards and people having problems with both the Z170 - A and the - Pro i was a bit discouraged, the Z97 lineup got all kinds of awards and i saw them in multiple builds with good results. might be time to revisit it again.

Do you have any porefered Motherboard that you could recomend me? i know the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming is pretty populair as well as the MSI gaming one.

Well, I use a Z87-Pro. And that's just fine. It allows overclocking and has VRM heatsinks and all. But, if you want the latest, you'll need a 110+ series chipset. H170+ for certain features. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_1151#Skylake_chipsets Personally, I just don't like ASrock. I lean toward ASUS or MSi for Mobo's. Z97 won't do Skylake or DDR4. And for content creation, DDR4 may help you out. So, I would recommend the 170/Skylake platform for you. If you legitimately don't want to overclock, then probably not Z170.

But check I/O, check warranty's, check reviews.
