Currently I have 128GB SSD running Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm looking to upgrade to a 500GB SSD and to put Windows 10 onto that new SSD and make that the new boot drive.

Would this be as simple as removing the 128GB SSD, plugging in the new 500GB SSD, installing Windows 10 onto it and making it the new boot drive?

I've had this 128GB SSD since my first build so I've never upgraded my boot drive before.

Thanks for your time.

This will be indeed as simple as that. Unplug the old, plug the new, reinstall everything, make sure the BIOS recognize the drive and put it on top of your boot list, enjoy. If you have some games in there, you can copy-paste the files to avoid re-downloading everything, it works just fine. But you will need to have both SSDs in the computer to do that

Thank you :)

No problem ;) But now that you have a bigger SSD, you might want to consider putting the slower games (I'm talking about loading times) on your SSD. It will change your life

On that note actually, I was considering getting an Intel 750 series (The PCI one to be exact) since I've been told they are stupidly fast.

Would you recommend them or is that speed not really worth the price?

I only tested classical 2.5" SSDs and M.2 SATA SSD (they're basically the same in terms of write/read speed and transfer speed) and they're both slower than what PCI SSDs offer in terms of transfer/write/read speeds. I don't know if these higher speeds are noticeable in real world, but I know that for the price, I wouldn't go anywhere near those SSDs :D it might be noticeable, but it's nearly double the price of an M.2 SATA of the same capacity. That money can go in the next GPU upgrade or in a bigger M.2/2.5" SSD at least
