Upgrading Old PC

The PC is a Dell Inspiron One 2305. It is an all in one. Its specs are an AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250u Processor, 4gb of RAM, and 500gb hard drive.

 

I was thinking of making the RAM 8gb, putting in an SSD, and doing a clean install of Windows. However, I am not sure what type of RAM to use, whether it is DDR2 or DDR3 and also whether it is normal desktop RAM or laptop RAM. 

 

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Usually all in ones have a small cover to access the memory, like a laptop.   Why not just look at what modules are already installed and you'll know if is DDR2 or 3?

I don't think this one does.

If I'm not mistaken it uses DDR3 modules. If I were to guess they would be SODIMM type.

SODIMM is the type that goes into laptops right.

Yes. AIO computers use it sometimes to save room.

By the looks of it, you need to remove the back cover to access the memory and HDD, the memory seems to be full DIMM size.

After a quick search of the motherboard it appears to use full desktop size RAM DIMMs.

Okay, thanks again. Since the sata interface is not 6Gb/s, how much will that affect the performance of the SSD?

If you get a really nice one then it will bottleneck it, but in normal usage you shouldn't really notice a difference. That CPU would hold you back more.
