Neat hardware.  From my read of the manual on the HP website, you need special cables to 'adapt' them to PS/2-VGA ports, or USB ports, whatever the case may be.  Those ports are *not* Ethernet ports even though they share physically identical RJ-45 cabling. 

 

So no, you can't use it as an Ethernet switch.  It is a fancy enterprise-grade KVM, but unfortunately one that doesn't appear to support IP-based networking.  Such devices have been largely obsoleted by IPMI functionality built into enterprise grade servers and even Intel AMT on the desktops.
