is a steaming pile of garbage to be honest with you...

as for the teamviewer hack: it's less bad than you think, if you'd ditch everything that had been hacked in the past you wouldnt be on this forum, wouldnt be using a browser, not even touching microsoft or apple products, and most likely not have a doorlock on your door.

it works and it's not teamviewer and can be done from a phone.

do you have any experience with the logmein stuff? i've kinda stayed away from their software since hamachi made win8 boxes randomly bluescreen.

there's this program someone talked about a while back, i have no idea what their name was anymore but they basicly claimed to be "X times faster than teamviewer" and "X times less network usage than teamviewer" and a whole load of other marketing crap that's doomed to result in a horrible experience in the end.

should actually try it one day if i could remember what they were called.

(their claims were ridiculous btw, they claimed a 1080p60 stream over something like 1Mbps with next to no cpu overhead and zero latency)

those have been around since the dawn of times, they basicly take the RDP files from pro, and slot them into home.

it's one of those things i honestly prefer not to touch, because the chance of OS-breaking bugs is pretty big there...

No offense but you sound like a hypocrite...

OP paranoid about one thing and you about everything else

well, i understand your point tbh.

my issue with those "enabling rdp in windows home" things is that they mess with windows specific files, which for those who ever used "universal theme patcher" is kind of doomed to go wrong at some point, especially with windows update coming into play and potentially overwriting some but not all files, creating version differences within a single application.

you're basicly creating a situation windows update did not take into account (i have quite the stores about upgrading to windows 10 with grub as a bootloader...) and you potentially also trigger false positives in utilities like CCleaner, and offcourse windows' built in "sfc /scannow"

  • 1 year later...

setup openvpn on raspberry pi,configure router, connect to that and then connect to home computer via RDP....... orrrrrr   get an account on no-ip or something similar with a domain name, configure router and then connect via RDP using domain name... or go with splashtop.
