So in the past couple of weeks i have been smashing my head on walls whether or not should i get a 1440p 144hz monitor (Asus MG279Q) or a 4k 60hz monitor (LG 27ud68-w). The thing with the Asus one is that i heard that has a lot of screen tearing issues. On the other hand, the LG has NO speakers + a 4k is not a great display for gaming considering the pixel density the GPU has to push.

Sooo if you could help me on this one, it would be great and if you have any other monitor options (requirements : min 1440p, Ips) i will 100% take them with an open mind.

Well if screen tearing bugs you (like it does me) and you don't like vsync (I don't mind it myself) then you should go with a g-sync or free-sync monitor depending on which team you swing for.

a 27 inch 4K monitor is fairly useless with windows since you have to enable scaling. 1440p is the sweet spot in that monitor size. If you want 4k, go at least 32 inches, but 40 would be even better.

When in doubt, re-format.

In fact, the 1080's probably overkill for anything less than 4k or multiple monitors

Dead wrong. The 1080 is perfect for 1440p 144hz, which is the high end sweet spot for gamers. At 4k, a LOT of games don't even hit 60 fps, so you'll probably need 2 980 ti or 2 1080's for the best experience at 4k.
