Clock_watchdog_timeout troubleshooting help

I recently build a system myself with an i5 6600k and a gtx 1070, the GPU runs smooth and with no problems whatsoever.

But every time I turn on the pc for the first time, I get a blue screen with the message of "Clock_watchdog_timeout"

Additionally, my cpu always seems to be running at 800mHz.

Any help is very much appreciated.

What's your PSU? Couple of things to check. The Clock_watchdog_timeout is a hardware bug check error.

1. Ensure your temperatures are within standard and nothing's overheating.

2. Clear your CMOS (or load optimized BIOS defaults) to ensure there's no improper BIOS setting or to clear overclock settings

3. Ensure your BIOS is up to date.

well the only time I've ever experienced that BSOD is when I was trying to overclock my 6700k. If I hit an unstable frequency and put it under stress I would often get this error message and crash. If you are overclocking, try returning your CPU to default operations and see if that fixes it.

If you're AT default operations, that could explain why your CPU runs at 800 MHz... Default operations allow your CPU to speed up and down based on the load they're under. If you CPU is idle, it may not want to run at anything more than 800 MHz, and when you put it under load, it could be pushing itself to a frequency it cant hit, resulting in this BSOD (However it shouldn't be pushing itself too far unless you have overclocked it).

You could also try manually increasing the voltage a tad in order to make it more stable at whatever frequency its trying to hit.

Beyond that i'm fairly new to computers and crash troubleshooting, so I don't know how much help I can be.
