How do you add more dedicated video memory?

Futureproofness? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think AMD is putting enough VRAM on their cards, NVidia is kind of hit or miss (GTX 970 3.5GB)

/s

8 GB on something that performs like the RX 480 should be just fine - more than enough.  3 GB on something like a 1060 is a joke :D

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

The 1060 only has 3GB?

Well I guess I can add that to the list of things I'll never buy.

No I think all, or almost all of them will be 6 GB but there were stirrings of rumours of a 3 GB one :D

well we wouldn't need it if companies would just add enough to begin with.  It literally costs them like $10 to add a couple extra GB

Matrox G200. And adding more GB of VRAM doesn't solve the first problem. First problem being cards are TOO DAMN SLOW! Case in point: 960 (performance goes down after ~2.8GB at which point PowerPoint becomes the game to play).

Well of course it's not like VRAM quantity is the only important thing, but if they can at least throw enough on the card, better to have too much than not enough when it's so easy and cheap to just have enough.  Then they can focus on these other issues :)

I think some PCBs have GDDR5 solder points, around the GPU itself... That and a custom BIOS would do :).

Nothing to see here ;)

Some PCBs of the 1060 looked like they had room for 8 GB but only 6 were filled, now that you mention it...

Even my old motherboard has solder-points for a DVI port, alongside the existing VGA port, at the rear I/O, and 2 more USB 2.0 front-panel headers at the bottom...

Nothing to see here ;)
