PS3 to PC account move?

Go to solution Solved by tobben,

Well, if you setup a passkey (not sure if they

were even a thing in the ps3 days)

You can retrieve it by going here, granted you

remember the name and email you used.

http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

If you have forgotten the name and everything,

the client isn't on the ps3 anymore, then i am

honestly not quite sure as to how you would

find it.. if you have no idea what it could have

been.

If you have a passkey, and remember the email

you used. You should be able to dig it up with

the right keywords, the email with the passkey

will also contain your username.

Chances are this is where it was sent from
server@fah-web2.stanford.edu

Just wondering if it's possible to use the same username and have my stats from when I used my PS3 for folding when I install the PC client.  I still have the same PS3 (original PS1/2 bw compatible model) but the folding client isn't on it anymore.  I'd like to put use to my idling, but never sleeping PC by starting up folding again.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

You don't actually have much of an id in folding,

just use the same name and passkey if you had

any, and you should be golden.

The passkey is probably the most unique identifier

there is.

Your points won't carry over if you join a new team

though, just fyi.

Is there a way to retrieve those "credentials" (name/key) from my PS3?

As for finding the credentials on the ps3 which

apparently doesn't have the client anymore,

sorry but i have no clue :/. Never used a ps3

and definitely didn't fold on one.

You might have some luck by asking over here

though: https://foldingforum.org/

They have some experienced people over

there.

Just as an homage to the PS3 crowd ... (from the stanford FAH pages):

Folding on the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3)

The PS3 is a powerful system for scientific calculation. In 2007, it was more powerful than CPUs, but less powerful than GPUs, and took a middle path between scientific flexibility and speed. Other benefits are the uniformity of PS3s (all have the same processor, GPU, RAM, etc) and the ability to stream data quickly to the GPU, allowing for real time visualization of the protein. Since it’s induction, over 15 million PS3 users have participated in FAH, in total donating more than 100 million computational hours.

The PS3 system was a game changer for Folding@home, as it opened the door for new methods and new processors, eventually also leading to the use of GPUs. We have had numerous successes in recent years. Specifically, in a paper just published in the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, we report on tests of predictions from earlier Folding@home simulations, and how these predictions have led to a new strategy to fight Alzheimer’s disease. The next steps, now underway at Stanford, are to take this lead compound and help push it towards a viable drug. It’s too early to report on our preliminary results there, but we’re very excited that the directions set out in this paper do appear to be bearing fruit in terms of a viable drug (not just a drug candidate).

Following discussions with Sony, we retired the PS3 client on November 6, 2012. Please see the PS3 FAQ for more information about the PS3 client.

Way to go PS3 peeps!
