I have an 8GB Micro SD card from my phone and I connected it to my PC and formatted it as NTFS and encrypted the entire sd card using BitLocker under Windows 10. How secure is it really? Would I be able to use it to backup passwords without needing to worry about someone just looking inside and stealing them?

As far as I know, it's considered more than good enough that no random person could break it, but potentially not immune to NSA-level attacks
