Hello, I am planning to upgrade my pc which was originally built as a mine craft build (Hence the weak GPU in comparison to the stronger CPU)

I am planning to do this as I have moved away from Minecraft and I am now targeting 1080p60 rather than my current 1080p20 that I am getting with my GTX 650 @ 1300mhz on AAA games, I plan to move to the RX 480, however my question is: Has my ASUS Z87-K Mobo got a good enough power delivery to PCIe to have the RX 480 overclocked and keep my GTX 650 in the system for Multi-Adaptor games in DX 12 also being kept overclocked, I think it would be ok but i thought i would better get the opinion of more people, could you also let me know if you think that there may be any other possible issues in my system that may hold back my gaming performance in 1080p60 or maybe even in a VR environment in the future.

as long as we're using AFR, pairing two graphics ADAPTORS from considerably different weight categories is not suggested as that will cause a lot of frame time issues

 

more interesting rendering techniques must be adopted before 650 + 480 can become viable

Oxide games last year showed off that their Nitros engine can pair things like A10 APU and R9 290 for load balancing putting unit render and light filters on the APU and the rest of the scene with heavy post processing on the Hawaii chip as well as dividing the Compute between both chips

so the outlook is good, future is bright

Around the same time Epic Games were showing off their new Unreal Engine that showed similar techniques utilized with 3-way Titan and Intel HD Graphics

Ok, Thanks so I won't sell my 650 yet as it may give me around 15-20fps+ in the future, as DX12 pools memory in a multi GPU config I think i may see much increased performance than it is at current because with Far Cry 4 on minimum i hit 25-35 fps at 1080p and my VRAM is pretty much maxed as I only have a 1GB card, However when I switch to 720p the VRAM usage drops considerably allowing for Far Cry 4 to be maxed out at 50-70 fps (With a lot of stuttering) so i presume with a larger pool of memory it will be considerably faster than it is on its own
