My very old mouse is behaving in a very awkward manner - It can move just fine, but when I click a button on an active window / dialog box on the foreground, it becomes inactive. The physical click is registering but there is no  response at all. Also when I move the pointer near / on an icon (in Explorer) or taskbar button, it does not highlight at all! I can't find any specific drivers for this, as I don't know the mouse's make and model... Event Logs notify of nothing suspicious too. I'm currently using my keyboard for all navigation. The pointer works OK in any one certain application. e.g. It works OK in Chrome, (and Chrome only) and I'm able to click buttons, and stuff. And Chrome itself is behaving weirdly, as I click any tab on top, the tab simply closes! I'm not pressing the 'x' at all, but the tab itself! Also when I click the menu to the right of the address bar, nothing happens - the menu doesn't open!

NOTE: I've also tried using other mice and even 'Mouse Keys' (controlling pointer using numpad) - All the symptoms mentioned above still occur... Any suggestions / advice?
