Hey all!

The other day, my Hyper X Cloud 2s started shorting out, so I did some research on the forum and online, and went with the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Plus headphones (My budget was under $200).

This being said, I ordered them for 180 with shipping and just got them in today. Ive been messing around with them, and they sound pretty good. But, Im not getting the WOW factor I thought I would with a 200 dollar pair of headphones.

Maybe I am missing something. Is there a software I can download that really pushes these guys? Also, The included proprietary cable is too short to plug into my computer, so I am currently using the Hyper X Cloud 2 sound card cable (maybe thats the issue as well?).

If there are better options for headphones that i missed, please let me know as well. If its like a huge performance difference, i can return these, and get a pair that are better, if the difference is that much.

Thanks for all your help!

There's no way for us to know what would "wow" you personally, if that's even possible. Could be that your music sucks.

The Cloud 2 soundcard definitely isn't helping things. Ditch that and get a real extension if you really need it. Any 3.5mm 3-pole audio cable will do.

Well, do you think that my research worked out? Was it the best bang for my buck? Thats the only thing im really worried about.

And Im not saying they didnt impress me. Im just trying to make sure i get the most out of my purchase

They're an ok headphone. Most stuff under $300 performs more or less in the same ballpark; it's more about flavors than one thing being better than another.

I have a feeling that you don't know what you like in terms of sound signature, or have a very wrong expectation of what you like. My friend had a very similar experience who thought he was a mid/treble guy but ended up getting a bass heavy headphone when I took him to a headphone shop, because thats actually what he enjoyed.

Go to a shop that has a lot of headphones that you can try out.

Bring a portable audio device with your favourite music, and 1 music from each genre that you listen to, to try out with various headphones.

Then you can check your budget, and get what sounded best to you (along with comfort) within your budget.
