Gpu boost and gtx 680 question.

trainergames

Ok after some successful CPU over clocking,i decided to do the same to my GPU.

My GPU is a Referance ASUS GTX 680.

How can i change the temp at which the GPU throttles?

Because i don't mind if it gets to the 90c-95c under benchmark load, because gaming will rarely get that hot,but i tried an ocerclock of 1110mhz,and the second it hits 82c it drops to 1097mhz.

I want to push it more, how do i go about doing that?

In the OC utility such as MSI Afterburner (yes, you can use it will every card whether MSI made that card or not) You can change the "Temp Limit" to higher so that the card will throttle at higher temp. However they usually have a hard limit at around 92C because higher than that it will actually damage the card.

I am fine with limit at 92c,i just want to be able to squeeze out a little bit more out of my GPU.

I have both GPU Tweak and Afterburner open and i see nothing about temp limit.

I think the old skin of the Afterburner (the green one) dont have that option available from start, the new skin have it right on top:

But the option should still be there, you might need to go into option and turn it on or smt (on my laptop right now so too lazy to download one)

I had 4.2.0,and after changing to the skin i saw the temp limit, but it is grayed out and i can't move it,i tried updating to the 4.3.0 beta.but it does the same.

I have looked through the settings but have not found something that turns on the temp limit.

Hmm... maybe for the 680 it's locked/they dont allow you to modify the temp limit on the 680?
