Hello,

Has anyone wrote the Comptia A+ certification exams before? I am writing the 901 on the 7th and I keep giving myself major anxiety because I have no idea what to expect.

I have a job that requires me to get this certification so we are able to work with other vendors so I have until the end of August to get this before they "re-evaluate" my position in the company. I did a two year computer systems and networking course and finished with a 4.0 GPA and have about 2 years working experience but when studying for this exam I see  things like "how many pins are on this CPU?" and get crazy stressed out. Is this information really needed for the A+?

any other last minute advice would be great as well.

Thanks

Honestly, the A+ is pretty much useless these days. I know this isnt what you want to hear, but everything is made to be volatile, or thrown away and not really repaired like the A+ certification was initially written for.

O I understand completely and honestly would personally skip it if it wasn't a requirement for my current job.

What are you working as?  From what you've said here, the cert seems fairly useless in terms of actual usable knowledge.

I am working as a junior IT administrator. The company I work for are consultants to small to medium sized companies and we basically do everything from basic setup of a new PC to deploying new servers.

edit: We also do a lot of desktop support which mostly gets pushed on to me as the "new" guy.

Seems you would be more served with some Microsoft Certifications then. I am personally certified from Microsoft in Windows Server edition and Windows. I am also a network/docsis Engineer for an ISP without any Cisco certifications so I dont really hold certifications to the holy grail some do. Its just one of those things that you either know it or you dont...
