So i'm looking to make a new gaming rig but I have a problem, I am having trouble choosing a cpu, I was going to go with the 6700k but I have recently decided to wait for the Kaby lake to come out(usb 3.1 gen 2 compatibility) but I am wondering is it worth it? I know Cannon lake is coming out in like 1 year so is that worth waiting for? Will Kaby lake be a bottleneck in the future with Volta gpus and stuff like that?

No it won't be a bottle neck and there will always be something just around the corner to replace when you currently have. You just end up in a constant state of waiting if you go this route. If a 3xxx series CPU doesn't bottleneck a 980Ti or even a 1080 then a 6700K won't bottleneck a Volta series GPU.
