I keep an eye on the Acer Ebay store once or twice a week so it's directly from Acer.

I'd assume they're either:

- Working warranty returns checked by a professional

- Old stock

- Unsent orders or overstocked products

It'd be a good idea asking how they're refurbished using eBay's question system

I know you don't get the full warranty as brand new but is a refurb still a smart purchase to save a few $$??

Depends. Where from? If it's an older monitor, then it probably came from a workplace and would be smart to save a couple $. If it's a latest model, and it's on newegg etc, then it's probably a warranty repaired monitor or change-of-mind return.

idk
