Smallest ATX cases?

porina

I've kinda given up on my ITX build as basically I'm buying another machine to get smaller, and I really don't need another machine. So the thought instead turns to, how small can you get a full ATX case? The scenario I'm thinking of is rather specific, as I look through the window of the Corsair Air 540 next to me. Space requirements could be reduced over standard, with sacrifices made to expansion ability. With water cooling it wont need height over the CPU, or I could sacrifice the space over the lower connectors, leaving just enough room for a double height GPU in top slot, I'm good. Combined, that could put an ATX system into the volume of a micro-ATX tower. But, does such a case actually exist?

Gaming system: R7 7800X3D, Asus ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming Wifi, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB, Corsair Vengeance 2x 32GB 6000C30, RTX 4070, MSI MPG A850G, Fractal Design North, Samsung 990 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Productivity system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, 64GB ram (mixed), RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, random 1080p + 720p displays.
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

This is a definitely maybe. Buying it could be a major problem for me as no dealers in my country, and I fear international shipping plus extra taxes will push the price sky high.

Interesting design but its overall size isn't dissimilar from other mid-tower ATX cases.

Been doing more research myself, and found a couple more possibilities.

http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mini-tower/elite-361/

This is the smallest ATX case I've found so far other than the discontinued 360 in their same range, but it is rather ugly and I'm concerned about the airflow options. Availability isn't good and my lowest cost option is to buy it from Europe... still, it is under half the price of...

http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/pc-a55/

Still pretty small for ATX, but not as small as the 361. It is Lian Li so never going to be cheap. Better ariflow options and a bit more space for a cooler. In terms of volume it is comparable to the Bullet BH7, where I have to rule out the BH7 as it will cost me far more than building that ITX system I was avoiding.

Then again, if I go for a budget ITX case and mobo, it could come into similar price ball park as the Lian Li... (assumes I reuse other components rather than buy new).
