problem pc crashed and wont start

I was playing gmod and suddenly my screen went to black and white strips in a vertical maner.

 

I waited for about 6 min then I turnd the pc off and back on

At first i didnt get any signal then suddenly a "broken" windows loggo apperd with wrong colors.

 

After 4 seconds the screen turned to black and then nothing more happend so I turned it back off.

 

What I can make of this is that my gpu has failed but im not that good at pc stuff

Cpu i5 

Gpu amd r9 270 

Motherboard Asus somthing

Hdd sega 1tb

Ram dont know 8gb

Have you tried clearing CMOS (google if you do not know how), reseating your gpu into another slot. Can you access bios?

Unless you're on an old P67 board (or one of those GPU-less Xeon SKU's which you obviously don't!), you should be able to pull the GPU, hook up to the onboard graphics, and get it booted. 

 

But yeah, I do suspect something's gone awry with the GPU.

Either it overheated or it right away broke.

or your monitor broke, though the GPU is way more likely.

1-Try plugging in your PC to a TV.

2- Try a different PCIE slot

3-Try a different graphics card

If none of those work then it has overheated and is probably beyond repair, sorry.

thanks for all the info turns out the gpu was compleatly fried so I got a free rx 480 as replasment
