So I have a new(ish) Lenovo Y50. After doing a factory reset using the tool built into windows 8 while trying to just reinstall using an ISO I encountered a problem. Windows no longer has registration of my windows 8 key. Reading about this online I heard it was actually programmed now into a chip in the motherboard of newer laptops. Well after much searching I had no idea where to find this key. Talking to Lenovo technical support the woman told me to get support in retrieving this key I would need to buy a tech support package which was stupidly expensive for the sole purpose of finding my key and nothing else. Does anyone know where to find this key supposedly chipped on the motherboard? There is no stickers on the laptop or box with this information.

TLDR: Where the hell is the windows key found on the lenovo Y50?

I had a similar problem with a lenovo laptop a while back, if you google around a bit you should be able to find a program to pull it off the board, no promises as I dont quite remember if it worked for me but I think it did... GL xD

There may be a program for that, but you'd have to look for it.
