i7 pretty much the same just lower clock speed

a 2 gig GT 750m is like a 2 gig GTX 660M

Ram pretty much the same

Cant compare 360 or ps3 cuz of different arc in harware

How ever ps4 and xbone use amd 8 core so better than an i5

work it ᕙ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ᕗ harder, make it (ง •̀_•́)ง better, do it ᕦ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ᕤ faster, raise ur ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ donger

First thing to remember is that laptops (even ultra books) have very different constraints than desktops and consoles. Namely, space, heat, weight, and power. Because of this laptops tend to lag behind similar skews on the desktop side (so an i7 laptop chip will be lower power, both in speed and power draw), this is true of cpus and gpus. I havent had a laptop in a few years so i cant speak to the specifics but it is safe to assume that the cpu is essentially an underclocked lower power chip as compared to the desktop i7, the same can be said for the gpu. This does not however mean that it isnt good. Too my eyes your specs look a little cpu heavy, though for a laptop that isnt necessarily a bad thing. As for a console, the laptop is more powerful.

What I wanted to know is what does it perform in games compared to. Is it better or worse in games than ps3 or 360 or what desktop setup does this perform similar to? Also compared to next gen consoles.

Gaming on a desktop will always have at least the potential to be better. As I mentioned the cpu is essentially an underclocked i7 and the gpu is an underclocked 750. An i7 is a high end cpu while a 750 is a entry level gpu. It is fairly safe to say it is a better performer than last gen consoles, however I cant say how it will stack up against a PS4 or Xbox One (dont know enough about consoles).

What does a 4th gen haswell i7-4700mq and a GT 750m with 2 GB gddr5 on top of 8gb 1600mhz compare to in terms of both desktop CPUs and GPUs and consoles?

I use Notebookcheck for comparisons. Like Linus once said, mobile hardware is confusing. So I go here to look at 3DMark scores and alike to compare to desktop benchmarks.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i7-4700MQ-Notebook-Processor.92959.0.html

and to compare it to desktop parts Anandtech has a very useful tool. With a quick look over it myself it looks like a 750m is probably similar to a GTX 640 or maybe an underclocked 650.
