Ghost display detected

So windows is detecting a second monitor and is identifying it as '1' the only monitor plugged into my graphics card is '2'. I think is this is also causing my monitor to not display the boot screen when I turn on the computer. Any solution?

check device manager and see if there is a 2nd display adapter there (Right click start and click Device Manager then display adapters)

Nope, just the one monitor

Nope just the AMD Radeon HD 7700 series adapter

Should I try popping the motherboard battery out to reset the bios?

Yep, just went to device manager and checked.

Hmmmmm... that's definitely odd. Did you try the battery on the motherboard?

No not yet. I just unplug the power supply, pop the battery and hold down the power button for a few seconds right?

Well dang. When you move the mouse over to the edge does it go over into the screen or does it stop at the edge?

Does over unless i select only display onto monitor '2'. Also still can't access the bios....

Its a lenovo motherboard, I had recently upgraded with a radeon HD 7770 gpu

Does it have integrated graphics?

What I would suggest is a full uninstall and reinstall of your graphics card's drivers. And if you have integrated graphics I would suggest doing the motherboard too. The problem you're having is caused when the port (either on the gpu or motherboard) senses current going through a port that you aren't actually connecting anything to. This can be caused by bad drivers or bad hardware. So I would redo the drivers and if that doesn't work it might be something like a short in the card. Which would not be good.

Reinstalled drivers not working.. Anyway to maybe change display priority without accessing the bios?

Can you not access the BIOS? But I would go into AMD Control Catalyst and start looking in there.
